If you are a newsletter subscriber or in our facebook reader group, you know we organized our first-ever Multi-Author Meetup in Chicago for this September. It’s very exciting, and the tickets sold out in roughly 10 minutes. We opened a waitlist for the event, and that too filled up rather quickly.
Which left us with something of a problem. KFB does her best to meet all of the people who want to meet her, and sign books for all the people who want her signature, when she travels to a signing event. We often have some sort of get-together the night before a big formal signing so anyone who is local to an area but was unable to get tickets to the event can still meet up with her and get their books signed. This is kind of easy to organize when you are participating in a Book Bonanza or ApollyCon because there is one hotel that hosts the event and most everyone stays at that same hotel, so the location for an informal get-together is simple. For our upcoming Chicago event, it was less easy.
We got the idea to look for a bookstore that is local to the event venue, to see if we could rent some space from them. Luckily, we found a really cool bookstore just a few blocks from the venue in River North: After-Words Bookstore. Beverly, the owner of the bookstore, was happy to help us out. I am SO EXCITED for our first-ever Indie Bookstore Signing! If you are in the Chicago area on September 14, please come see us at After-Words Bookstore at 23 East Illinois Street, from 1-2pm. Don your purple muumuu (or not!) and come down to say hi!
